New Earth-like planet is Earth afterall

Astronomers who say they have found the first Earth-sized world at a distance suitable for life yesterday admitted errors in their findings.

Earlier, the astronomers say the Earth-like planet has good prospects for liquid surface water, has images of what appears to be ocean and mountains and some buildings that can be seen through a special telescope.

"This planet will most probably be a very important target of the future space missions dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial life," says Dr. Xerex Xaviera with the Green Goblin Astronomical Center in Pakistan.

But this morning, the astronomers immediately held a press conference to announce that there was a major blunder in their find.

The astronomers said the Earth-like planet appeared to look like Earth with sea and mountain and some buildings because it was Earth that they found.

"We were using our special telescopes to scout for other planets when we found what we believed was an Earth-like planet. It was after all an image of Earth reflected from the huge rear mirror of a Chinese satellite orbiting the Earth," said Dr. Xaviera.
